Leonardo DiCaprio has been stirring a buzz in the online world for the past years, and it’s not always because of smart financial investments.

It’s usually one of these three things:

  1. Great acting in new roles — Okay, Don’t Look Up was meh, but he definitely killed it in The Revenant.
  2. Never dated a girl older than 25.

A Reddit user by the name of TrustLittleBrother made a graph showing how Leonardo DiCaprio’s age increased throughout the years, but all his lovers’ age stays the same.

The Reddit graph starts with the 20-year-old Gisele Bundchen in 2001 and ends with the current girl romantically linked to DiCaprio since 2019, Camila Morrone.

3. Being a prominent climate change activist.

Leonardo DiCaprio was named a United Nations Messenger of Peace because of his activeness with regard to Earth’s battle with climate change.

A quick rundown of Leonardo DiCaprio’s start on fame

The Hollywood actor and film producer was born on November 11, 1974, in Los Angeles, California.

The children’s television show Romer Room was DiCaprio first acting gig at age five. But, his breakthrough really came after he beat out all the other hopefuls for This Boy’s Life (1993) acting opposite Robert De Niro.

Of course, DiCaprio’s role as a teenager with an intellectual disability in What’s Eating Gilbert Grape (1993) is also worth mentioning. He received an Academy Award nomination for best supporting actor.

In the mid-90s, Leonardo DiCaprio’s career is soaring high, landing huge roles left and right. This lead him to become the teenage heartthrob everyone loved.

Since his huge movie successes like Titanic, The Wolf on Wall Street, and Django, Leonardo DiCaprio is off to help the world and make smart financial decisions through his charities and being a climate change advocate.

The Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation (Re:wild) & his charities: Why they are smart financial investments

Everyone knows DiCaprio as Jack, the one who didn’t fit the floating door and drowned, but what some people don’t realize is he’s also a man with a burning passion for climate change.

He’s more than just an actor, he’s an actor that invests in what’s important — our planet.

The Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation was reformed, and Re:wild was born.

Re:wild’s motto is to ‘protect and restore the wild’. It was founded by a group of renowned conservation scientists together with Leonardo DiCaprio.

Their vital work has protected and conserved more than 180 million acres benefitting more than 16,000 species in the world’s most irreplaceable places for biodiversity.

And that’s incredible for Mother Nature.

So, how much has Leonardo DiCaprio spent on his smartest financial investment?

In 2021, Leonardo DiCaprio’s social media accounts have been taken over by a wildlife veterinarian and island restoration specialist. The initiative was in partnership with Re:wild.

The aim is to rewild the entire Galápagos Islands, as well as all of Latin America’s Pacific archipelagos.

Was it mentioned that Leonardo DiCaprio pledged $43 million for it?

The $43 million donation will go toward projects on Floreana Island, which is home to 54 vulnerable species.

As well as efforts to reintroduce 13 locally extinct species, including the Floreana mockingbird — which was the first mockingbird described by Charles Darwin.

POV: You didn’t come for Leonardo DiCaprio’s love for climate change but for his actual financial investments

DiCaprio and his team are pretty hush-hush about the specific amount of money he funds his charities and foundations, even more so with personal investments; and as an actor, he’s pretty quiet about his personal life, so that checks out.

Here’s what we know about his spending and coming:

  • Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation has raised a total of $500K in funding over 1 round on May 23, 2019.
  • Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation is funded by Microsoft.
  • Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation has invested in Oceana on Feb 20, 2014. This investment was valued at $3M.
  • Leonardo DiCaprio has 18 known personal finance investments. His latest investment was Series A — VitroLabs on May 4, 2022, when VitroLabs raised $39M
