How Much Your Instagram Account Is Actually Worth Compared to Celebrities
Your IG account isn’t worth $1,226,000 unless you’re Kylie Jenner.
I’ve been going back and forth between staring at the ceiling and scratching my head hoping a big bag of cash would magically appear under my bed because no one is hiring due to the pandemic and rent is coming up again.
But we all know life doesn’t work that way — unfortunately.
In all seriousness, I’ve been thinking about how to make more money using social media, and I thought to myself: Instagram! I’d have a bunch of followers and I can endorse brands!
Sounds good on paper, right? But here comes the hard part — actually putting in the work like any other start of an endeavor; how I can start gaining followers on Instagram.
Research Is Always a Good Idea When Starting Something New
Let’s go back to where it all began: the start of Instagram and how Instagram became the successful social media app it is today.
According to Investopedia, Stanford University graduate Kevin Systro launched Instagram on Oct. 6, 2010, making this year its 10th year anniversary, and on that day, it became the top free photo-sharing app, racking up 25,000 users.
The app itself took only eight weeks to develop before launching on Apple’s (AAPL) iOS, and within a year and a half, Facebook (FB) had acquired the company for $1 billion in cash and stock.
That folks is how the estimated billion dollar photo-sharing app Instagram was born.

How Much Are Celebrities Paid for a Sponsored Instagram Post?
Hopper HQ, a UK-based planning tool for Instagram, estimates Kylie Jenner to be making more money on one Instagram post than most people will make in years.
Not only is she insanely wealthy thanks to her Kylie Cosmetics brand and her family background but all she has to do is take a picture, type in a few words and post on Instagram to make $1,200,000.
Other celebrities on Insta Rich List 2019 are:
- Ariana Grande, worth $996,000 per instagram post.
- Cristiano Ronaldo, worth $975,000 per Instagram post.
- Kim Kardashian, worth $910,000 per Instagram post.
- Selena Gomez, worth $886,000 per Instagram post.
- Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, worth $882,000 per Instagram post.
Now this got me thinking..
Should we just buy Instagram Followers?
The act of buying followers has always been a strange idea to me, while it looks good on the dashboard the interaction would not match the numbers — they’re mainly bots or inactive accounts. So what’s the point in buying Instagram followers?
Some brands like Pepsi and Mercedes-Benz have been accused of allegedly buying Instagram followers along with famous bloggers/influencers on Instagram.
Although I think it’s strange that big names such as Pepsi and Mercedes-Benz would need to buy followers on Instagram, I’m also a ‘you do you’ kind of person and calling out brands or people for buying followers seem unnecessary to me.
If you want just a good number of followers to look at on your Instagram, then buying followers is okay but if you want genuine interaction with followers, I suggest putting in the actual work.
How Much Is Your Instagram Account Actually Worth?
Many micro-influencers — people who have an average of 3,000 followers — on Instagram can get paid by brands to post a picture with the product or even their travel experiences according to Market Watch.
A website called Inkifi calculates how much an Instagram account’s posts are worth based on how many followers they have just by typing in their Instagram handle.
According to the same website, an Instagram account with a more modest 14,000 followers can make $8 per post, while someone with around 600 can earn around $3.50.
Tribe, an influencer marketplace, told Business Insider that those with between 3,000 to 10,000 followers can charge brands between $60 to $115. People with more than 100,000 followers can ask for more than $400 per post.
So now you tell me, how much is your Instagram worth?
Everyone seems to want to be famous on social media these days whatever the reason might be but make sure you’re happy in real life not just in social media, I’ve seen way too many influencer burn outs and I don’t doubt that it can actually happen.
